EcoOstriv — a Collective Farming Initiative on Samarskyi Island
EcoOstriv is a collective initiative of gardeners and farmers on Samarskyi Island, combining the development of local farming with the practical use of modern digital labeling and product traceability technologies.
The idea of the project is to bring together people engaged in gardening, vegetable growing, farming, beekeeping and the production of local food products. By working together, participants can make more efficient use of land, water, equipment and infrastructure, organize purchasing, irrigation, growing, processing, storage and distribution of their products.
Local products with a digital history
EcoOstriv is being developed both as a real farming initiative and as a practical demonstration platform for Original.Webrozum technologies.
Products grown or produced by participating gardeners and farmers can receive digital labeling using a QR code or DataMatrix linked to a web passport of the product, producer or specific production batch.
After scanning the code, a customer can receive information about:
- the product name and type;
- the gardener, farmer or local farm that produced it;
- the place of growing or production;
- harvest, production or packaging date;
- production batch number;
- product composition, characteristics and features;
- photos of the farm and product;
- producer contact information;
- other products offered by the same producer or by EcoOstriv.
From a simple QR code to full traceability
A small garden or farming operation does not need to begin digitalization with a complex information system. Implementation can be gradual.
At the first stage, a QR code may lead to the web passport of the producer or a particular type of product. The next step can be identification of individual harvest or production batches. When required, a unique digital identifier can later be assigned to every package or product unit.
This creates a clear digital identification chain:
EcoOstriv → Producer → Product → Batch → Package.
This approach makes it possible to move gradually from simple customer information to a complete product traceability system.
Practical demonstration of Original.Webrozum
EcoOstriv demonstrates how digital identification technologies can be used not only by large manufacturers, but also by small farms, family businesses and collective farming initiatives.
A digital product web passport can be used for:
- identification of the producer and product;
- confirmation of product origin;
- identification and accounting of production batches;
- providing customers with additional product information;
- building trust in local producers;
- collecting feedback from customers;
- supporting repeat orders;
- presenting other products from the same farm;
- gradually developing a complete traceability system.
One brand — many producers
A distinctive feature of EcoOstriv is the possibility to unite products from different gardeners and farmers under one local brand while preserving information about the actual producer of every product.
Vegetables, fruit, berries, herbs, honey, chicken and quail eggs, seedlings, preserves and other local products can be offered under the EcoOstriv brand. At the same time, the digital passport allows customers to see who actually grew or produced a particular product.
This creates a foundation for developing a collective local brand without losing the individuality and responsibility of each producer.
Samarskyi Island
Samarskyi Island is a territory of garden communities, natural areas and local community initiatives where residents develop infrastructure, recreational areas, landscaping and joint projects.
EcoOstriv is being developed here as one of the initiatives combining local production, responsible use of natural resources and modern digital identification technologies.
More information about the island, its development, community projects and local initiatives is available on the Samarskyi Island website.
Responsible farming
EcoOstriv is not only about producing food. An important part of the initiative is developing a culture of responsible farming: caring for the land, efficient use of water, development of irrigation systems, reuse of resources, maintenance of the territory and creation of a comfortable natural environment.
The project can become a platform for the development of small family and collective farms, gardens, berry plantations, greenhouses, apiaries and other agricultural and environmental initiatives.
Our principle is simple: grow our own products, help each other, treat the land responsibly and build together a farming community whose products we can be proud of.
